"Raising Silkworms on the Big Island" Howard Takata
Avid silkworm hobbyist and respected Big Island biologist, Howard Takata will give a FREE lecture on May 10th at 10:30am on the joys and sustainability of sericulture for the Hawaiian Islands' agricultural community as well as future hobbyists. This lecture is meant to give an overview of the silkworm's life-cycle and needs, and will dovetail nicely with Akihiko Izukura's textile art exhibition, also at EHCC/Hawaii Museum of Contemporary Art in Hilo.
Ambient Light Design

Learn to see ambient light and how to use it when photographing people and the environment
PREREQUISITES: knowledge of Aperture and Shutter speeds on manual setting.
OBJECTIVES: To understand the use of ambient light on people in the environment. Learn to use an external flash with confidence to enhance or fill while photographing subjects.
MATERIALS: Digital Camera. External flash and laptop optional.

Description: For amateurs of all ages, 10 students per course in order to give the maximum attention, a course indoors, plus Field trips.
Target Audience: To all people that want to lear more about photography and manual settings of the camera.
