Malialani Dullanty
Native Hawaiian artist Malialani Dullanty was born in diaspora and raised on the Syilx/Okanogan Reservation. This provided her the opportunity to grow up immersed within native culture, even disconnected from her own. She makes art that explores those kinds of complexities; liberation and justice, generational trauma, depression, being biracial and native, climate justice, and how we are all connected. Moving home to Hawai’i nei allowed her artwork to become more rooted culturally as she seeks to undermine harmful systems through the use of mixed media, installations, and printmaking. She often partners with her husband, Mark Dullanty, a carpenter and welder, to create multi-disciplinary experiences. They live with their two children in Keaʻau Hawaiʻi.
