Avalon Paradea
Avalon Paradea is a genderliminal, neurodivergent creative raised and residing in the dryland region of Waikōloa, Hawaiʻi. Their meandering life path has allowed them to explore myriad realms such as environmental stewardship, oral history, cultural preservation, education, and creative arts. Since 2024, they have pursued their creative career full-time. Avalon is an ʻāina-based artist, working with elements such as kapa, plant dyes, and earth pigments. Their work examines diverse topics including environmental justice, queer identity, re-Indigenization, demilitarization, ancestral connections, and disability. Fostering pilina with and between people, plants, and place is central to their practice.
