Young at Art: Big Island Student Art Exhibition - March 7-26, 2014
Program type:
Dates:
Friday, March 7, 2014 - 9:00am to Wednesday, March 26, 2014 - 4:00pm
To celebrate National Youth Art Month, the East Hawaii Cultural Council is co-sponsoring the Young At Art show with Hawaii’s Department of Education. Students from all public, charter, private and home schools on the Big Island (K-12) are invited to submit their best work to their teachers, who gather up the students work and present it to the EHCC/Hawaii Museum of Contemporary Art to be judged for originality, excellence and creativity. The chosen artworks are on display from Saturday March 8th through Wednesday, March 26th, 2014. Stop by and see what our young people are capable of, you'll be inspired!
There was an opening reception with music, refreshments, and Jurors’ Choice prizes and Recognition awards for the students on Saturday, March 8th, starting at 10:00 am. The public was invited, and admission was free for the reception and show. The prizes were provided by generous donations from Hawaii individuals and businesses (see listing of donors below). Young At Art is a great way to support the imagination of our keiki and young adults and help them become the visionaries of tomorrow.
Museum hours: Tuesday – Friday 9am – 4pm, Saturday 9am – 5pm. Closed Sunday and Monday.
