The Legendary Textiles of Indonesia with Larry Butler
In connection with the EHCC x Kalākaua Park Youth Art Month project, EHCC Online Presents: The Legendary Textiles of Indonesia!
Suitable for all ages, this month's lecture is an introduction on the rich heritage of Indonesian textiles.
Dr. Butler is an art historian, recently retired from George Mason University in Virginia, where he taught Medieval, Islamic, and Silk Road art. He also taught global art history on four voyages with Semester At Sea, has taught in Shanghai, China for four summers, and has lectured frequently at the Smithsonian Institution in Washington, DC. Nowadays--at least in normal years--he lectures for Smithsonian Journeys on their tours of Spain, Portugal, Morocco, and Vietnam. He and his husband now live on the Hāmākua coast.
