Celebrate the Legacy of Shingo Honda: Book Launch & Conversation with the Designer, Andrzej Kramarz
Friday August 29th, 6:00 PM, EHCC Theatre (2nd Floor)

Over his fifteen years in Hawaii, Shingo Honda graced our community with a dozen solo exhibitions of his extraordinary paintings, prints and sculpture. Almost six years after his departure, we celebrate this beloved Big Island artist, with a Book Launch and Conversation with the Designer.

Join us for the launch of Impermanence, a 300-page richly illustrated monograph of Shingo Honda. Spanning the full arc of his artistic career, the book brings together work from across decades, offering an intimate and comprehensive view of his creative journey. Andrzej Kramarz, our gallery curator and the book’s designer, spent five years researching, scanning archives, and photographing Honda’s artworks to create this volume of Shingo Honda’s extraordinary fifty-year journey. His meticulous attention created Impermanence as not only a visual record but also a lasting tribute to the artist’s legacy.

This event will feature a talk by Kramarz, offering an inside look into his creative practice and the art of designing and conceptualizing books for art and photography. Through images, stories, and practical insights, he will share how visual narrative and material choices work together to shape the reading experience—how design can extend the meaning of an artist’s work beyond the page.

Books will be available for purchase at the event.

Event is free, anyone can RSVP to join us.
