The Hilo Education Arts Repertory Theatre (HEART) is excited to announce its upcoming production of Dear Evan Hansen. Based on the book by Steven Levenson with Music and Lyrics by Benj Pasek and Justin Paul, the story follows after a grieving family mistakes a therapeutic letter for their son’s suicide note, a socially anxious teen named Evan Hansen fabricates a fake friendship that brings him a sense of belonging but eventually forces him to confront the consequences of his deception. 

 

Directed by HEART’s Producing Artistic Director, Larry Reitzer and Musical Director, Damien Stack, the play will open on Friday, February 13, 2026, at the East Hawaii Cultural Center, running through Sunday, March 1, 2026. Tickets on sale only at hearthilo.org.
