2021 AARP Community Challenge Grantee
EHCC rose to the Challenge! We are thrilled to announce that the East Hawai'i Cultural Center has been selected as a recipient of the 2021 AARP Community Challenge Grants. AARP’s support will enable us to launch “EHCC Out-of-Doors,” beginning with the construction of a mobile, modular stage suitable for dramatic, musical, dance and spoken arts performances. The stage will be nestled in a currently unused spot on our premises that will be turned into a cozy outdoor theatre. The stage is designed to travel – we intend to bring presentations to schools, parks, senior centers, and care facilities, so that audiences unable to come to EHCC can still enjoy our programs.
The AARP Community Challenge is a grant program to make tangible improvements to communities that jump-start long-term change. It is part of AARP’s nationwide Livable Communities initiative, which supports the efforts of cities, towns, neighborhoods and rural areas to become great places to live for people of all ages.
