Big Island Photo Expo 2015!
We look forward to sharing the art of our gifted local photographers. 36 photographers, from the entire Big Island, will be displaying their Art! Come to support our local artists and Ehcc/HMOCA.

"Trail of Tears: the Glass Art of Darren Goodman" opens December 4 at 5:30 p.m. on First Friday.
11th Annual Hilo Lei Day Festival
Celebrate Lei Day at HMOCA by making a Lei Aloha Nui with Sue Champeny. Learn how to make lei using recycled materials, silk flowers, ribbon and yearn and fresh flowers! Randy Lee will demonstrate making the traditional Hawaiian lei. Opening ceremonies at 10 a.m. will introduce the festival's Lei Day Queen, Kahokukauahiahionalani Fo and her Lady in Waiting Thailana Aipolani. Hawaiian puppetry, Hawaiian music and hula by Iwalani "Aunty Bea" Masoe and her 'ohana. Displays and food booths. The free event runs until 3 p.m.

Big Island Photos
The June exhibit at HMOCA will be selected photographs by Big Island photographers in five categories: nature, portrait, urban, abstract and black and white. The opening reception is at 5:30 p.m. Friday, June 5.
The juror for the Big Island Photo Expo is Laurel Schultz of Holualoa and Seattle. She has taught photography at the University of Washington, the Photographic Center Northwest and more recently, at the Donkey Mill Art Center in Holualoa. Laurel explores the natural world as a lens on human nature.

28th Annual Big Island Trash Show 2015
Come see the 28th annual Trash Art show on the main showroom of the museum! The show runs from October 2nd to October 28th. Founded and run by artist Ira Ono. Sponsored by Recycle Hawai’i and EHCC.
