CALL FOR ARTIST ENTRIES:

SUMMER ARTS EXPOSITION

EHCC: Hawaii Museum of Contemporary Arts will hold a CALL for ENTRIES for the “Summer Arts Exposition” to be exhibited from July 5-23, 2014.


Residents of the Big Island may enter up to three (3) entries with ALL MEDIA acceptable. Entries must be of original works ONLY, Giclee prints of photographs & digital art are also acceptable.

Entry fees for EHCC:HMOCA Member: $15 per entry*
Non-Members: $25 per entry
Up to $500 in cash awards will be given.

Entry form: N/A

Entries must be ready for installation with wire for hanging and display bases and/or mounts. Works difficult or unsafe to install will not be accepted. Artist must be available for installation of large/difficult works. All artwork is displayed at the discretion of the Gallery Committee & decisions are final.

ART INTAKE DAYS AND HOURS:
Friday, June 27 from 10 am - 6:30pm and Saturday, June 28 from 9am - 12pm

ALL ARTWORK MUST BE FOR SALE! No “NFS” will be accepted. A 40 % commission for EHCC: HMOCA should be included in your sales price. 

All entries will be handled with the utmost care, with EHCC/HMOCA not being responsible for damage, loss or theft of works submitted for exhibit. Submission of artwork implies acceptance of all conditions.

This year's Juror, Rich Richardson, is Executive Director of Hawaii Academy of Performing Arts and The ARTS at Marks Garage . He will hold a Juror’s talk at 2 pm upstairs in the performance space on the second floor on Saturday, June 28th. Please scroll down for Rich Richardson's full bio.

Opening Reception & Awards Presentation:
Friday, July 4, 5:30 pm - 9 pm

All unaccepted artwork may be picked up on:
Saturday, June 28 from 3pm - 6pm or Tuesday, July 1 from 9am - 3pm.

Pickup of works selected for exhibition may be picked up on:
Friday, July 25 from 9am - 3pm or Saturday, July 26 from 9 am - 3pm.

Artist MUST pick up artwork during designated times, remaining art will be considered a DONATION to EHCC/HMOCA for fundraising.

Gallery Hours: Tues. – Thurs. 9 am - 4 pm / Friday & Saturday 10 am – 7 ppm

Meet HMOCA's 2014 Summer Arts Expositions' Juror: Rich Richardson

Rich Richardson is Executive Director of Hawaii Academy of Performing Arts and The ARTS at Marks Garage. He is founder of Chinatown Artists Lofts, and co-founder of First Friday Honolulu. He has a MA of Creative Arts Interdisciplinary Studies from San Francisco State University and has been a working artist in Hawaii for over 20 years. He was owner of pioneer Chinatown art gallery salon5, an adjunct Professor of Art at Hawaii Pacific University and has developed arts programming for at-risk teens. He is currently on the board of Arts District Merchants Association.
