The Youth Arts Series: Fall Break 2018

Haunted House Camp- Ages 7-14

October 8-12, Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM- 2:00 PM

5-6 students per group

4 instructors/classes

  • Digital Media Production- Kevin Diminyatz

  • Electronic Design- Marc Roberts

  • Creative Painting- Kellie Miyazu

  • Special Topics- Various guest instructors

-Classes may be canceled if minimum enrollment is not met, in the event of which the enrollment fee will be refunded. Membership purchased at the time of registration is non-refundable. Membership will remain valid for one calendar year.

-A mid-morning snack will be provided by EHCC. Students will need to bring their own non-perishable home lunch, lunch will NOT be provided by YAS.

Daily Schedule

  • 7:30 AM- 7:50 AM Drop off period
  • 8:00 AM- 9:15 AM- Class 1
  • 9:20 AM- 10:35 AM- Class 2
  • 10 Minute Snack Break 10:35 AM- 10:45 AM
  • 10:50 AM- 12:05 PM- Class 3
  • Lunch Break 12:05 PM- 12:30 PM
  • 12:35 PM-1:50 PM Class 4
  • 1:50-2:00 PM Clean up time
  • 2:00- 2:30 PM Pick up period

***Daily order of classes will rotate, students will have each class once each day of the week.

Program Description: The Fall Break session of the Youth Arts Series will be presented In Partnership with the UH Hilo Center for Community Engagement (CCE). YAS: Fall Break 2018 will feature a Haunted House theme. Through our creative classes, students will learn a variety of processes and techniques relating to DIY set decorating, props, costuming, and even incorporating the use of digital media and electronic technologies. Students will work together to create a haunted house in EHCC’s Annex Building, which will open to the public at the conclusion of the program. They will work in a collaborative environment and learn skills and techniques that can be utilized in creating their own DIY costumes, decorations and more.

    Kellie Miyazu is a graduate of the University of Hawai‘i at Hilo, with a BA in Art. She attended California College of the Arts in the Bay Area for part of her education.     Kevin Diminyatz's picture
    Bio:
    Kevin Diminyatz is originally from the San Francisco Bay Area. Graduating from Sonoma State University in 1995 with a B.F.A  in Printmaking and a minor in Art History. In 1998 Kevin received a Masters of Fine Arts in Painting from Mills College where his work was influenced by Mills College Professors, Hung Liu, and Ron Nagle. Learn More

    Marc Roberts's picture
    Bio:
    Marc has been teaching physics at the University of Hawaii at Hilo(UHH) for the past four years and especially likes teaching the labs.  He has been the faculty lead for the UHH NASA Robotic Mining Competition and NASA Swarmathon robotics teams four years in a row. He has taught robotics at two Hawai'i public schools, one Hawai'i charter school, Hawai'i Community College, PISCES Stars(promoting science to high school women), and middle school girls CCECS robotics/computer science.  He is a firm believer that one learns best by doing.
