MASTER PRINTMKER’S INVITATIONAL EXHIBITION AND SYMPOSIUM WORKSHOPS
The University of Hawaii at Hilo is pleased to announce the Master Printmaker’s Invitational Exhibition, October 7– November 4, 2016 and Printmaking Symposium, October 19th through 29th, 2016 at UHH, the East Hawaii Cultural Center, and Donkey Mill Art Center in Holualoa.
The symposium will gather experts in the field of contemporary art printmaking to celebrate the 2016 Pacific States Biennial North American Print Exhibition (PSBN) established by the Art Department Print Studio in 1982, with a series of demonstration workshops, lectures, and exhibitions at various locations around the island. The juror for the 2016 PSBN, Lloyd Menard, Professor Emeritus at the University of South Dakota, Vermillion, has given over 70 workshops in prints and handmade paper throughout the United States and Europe. Meynard originated the Frogman's Print Workshops in 1981 and in 1994 the Frogman's Press & Gallery. UHH Visiting Artists and symposium presenters include: Michael Barnes, Professor, Printmaking, Northern Illinois University (IL); Michelle Martin Associate Professor of Printmaking, University of Tulsa (OK); Professor Matthew Egan, East Carolina University, Greenville (NC), Assistant Professor Marilee Salvator, Western Kentucky University, Bowling Green (KY), and Koichi Yamamoto, Associate Professor at University of Tennessee, Knoxville. The PSBN exhibition will open Wednesday October 19, 2016 with a free public lecture by Meynard in UHH - UCB 100, 5:30-6:30 pm, and reception in Campus Center 301, 7:00 8:30 pm.
