Live Aloha Festival

The Live Aloha Festival will bring art, joy, celebration, and social justice to the community of Hilo from January 11-12, 2019. 

Featuring music, theatre, film, puppets, visual art, and conversations about the artist’s role in society, the Live Aloha Festival will be produced by East Hawai’i Cultural Center (EHCC) and artist collective The New Alchemists: a performance-based artist collective architecting creative experiences for communities. 

THE FESTIVAL WILL INCLUDE: 

1) The creation of a new play! Community members will work with The New Alchemists Friday Jan 11-Saturday Jan 12 to devise and write a new play to perform for the community!

2) A screening of NALANI, a short film about Hawaii’s colonization, directed by Festival Director Brandon Estrella

3) New works by local musicians, and composer Ahmed Al Abaca on Friday and Saturday evening. 

4) A giant puppet parade on Saturday - and puppet workshops hosted by @Full Life Hawaii in partnership with puppeteer Lavinia Roberts Jan 7-10. Message us to get involved!
