Kaʻiulani, the beloved Crown Princess of Hawaiʻi, will soon come to life once again as the Hilo Community Players offer the riveting drama, The Last Princess, a world-premiere play written by Hilo playwright, Jackie Prell. Travel back to the Hawaiʻi of the late 1880s, when royalty graced ʻIolani Palace and businessmen sought to usurp the Kingdom, all in the name of sugar. A cast of thirty will open the play on April 12th at the East Hawaiʻi Cultural Centerʻs Kahua ʻElua theatre and close with two performances the beginning of Merrie Monarch Week, April 22nd and 23rd. Jackie Pualani Johnson directs the painful struggles of Kaʻiulaniʻs return to a homeland in upheaval, Liliʻuokalani de-throned, and the islands set adrift. Tickets are available at Basically Books in Hilo or online at https://hiloplayers.org/tickets/
