Its the opening reception of V: First Annual Women's Exhibition!

The celebration of First Friday on July 6th at the East Hawai’i Cultural Center will feature a hands-on exploration of the Javanese gamelan (bronze orchestra) guided by Carol Walker, an experienced gamelan musician who soon will be offering instruction on the gamelan at EHCC.  The exotic sound of gamelan has been described as “moonlight and flowing water,” with instruments ranging from huge, resonating gongs to silvery xylophones to small, delicate-sounding standing gongs. Visitors will have a chance to experiment with the instruments from  6:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. as part of the opening of the Women’s Invitational Exhibit.

Then join us for RAW Opening Ceremony and entertainment on the lanai!
